How to Transition Your Wardrobe: Summer into Fall

It’s a tough time to get dressed. The calendar still says summer.  But the fashion magazines all say fall. How can you transition your summer staples to give a nod to the upcoming season? It’s “easy breezy” with these three style suggestions. One: layer up. Think about what can be worn under or over your favorite summer pieces. Take your favorite slip dress and add a ¾ or long sleeve T.  Add leggings or tights under a shorter shirt dress or shift.  On the flip side, it’s amazing how a denim jacket or black blazer worn over a sleeveless tank or romper can visually transition these summer items into fall. Two: Change your accessories. Swap your straw tote for its leather counterpart. Exchange your sandals for ankle booties. Add more substantial jewelry – or a lightweight infinity scarf.  Three: go to the dark side. Make no mistake. I’m not saying give up your whites or pastels.  (I don’t play by the old “rules.”) Instead start to add in colors like teal, plum, burgundy or olive green.  Think white jeans and a teal cardie; a burgundy skirt and a white T or a lavender dress with a green army jacket. Don’t forgot to change your nail color and lipstick to reflect the upcoming change of seasons.  Enjoy this opportunity to take a fresh look at your summer pieces with a fresh eye toward fall.
