New Hues for You

Spring is finally at our doorstep and boy are we ready for it!  If you’re anything like us, you’ve been waiting with baited breath to take your spring wardrobe out for a spin.  As you go into the closet and rediscover some old favorites, chances are you will also be itching to buy something new.  The good news is that with so many great trends this season (leather to lace, stripes to dots, and so on) there is something for everyone.  The bad news is that it can seem like a daunting task to pick and choose.Spring Color Trends - 2013

We recommend that you start slowly, but purposefully, by adding items that will add both utility and mileage to your existing wardrobe, yet make a statement.  We find that one of the easiest updates is to add a wardrobe staple or accessory in an accent color.  This spring there are some beautiful hues for you to choose from.   So why not brighten your basic black (or other dark neutral) and discover a new hue for you?  Here we showcase a few of our favorite hues from spring’s peppy palette and encourage you to check out (and Like!) our facebook page (StyleworksofUnionSquare) for more.

Green With EnvyGreen with Envy – A real wardrobe workhorse, the tailored blazer is a must-have for any season.  This stretch cotton blazer adds polish and sophistication to any look.  Wear it with one of this season’s lace tops and a pencil skirt and you’ve got a workplace winner.  Or, opt for a simple white T, jeans and a wedge sandal and off to Sunday brunch you go.  Think of how happy it will make your dark neutral bottoms!  (www.stylebop.com)Blossoms and Buds

Blossoms and Buds – Floral prints (big, small, bold, or delicate) are a perennial favorite this time of year.  If you’re not a fan, not a worry as there are plenty of other ways to get your floral fix, like these gorgeous Swarovski crystal earrings.  They come in a myriad of color combos, but one of our favorites is this one that embraces this season’s easy-to-wear dusk blue hue.  Now that’s what I call a fresh pick for spring!  (www.tarinatarantino.com)

Bright OnBright On – Maybe the weather hasn’t quite felt ‘spring-like’ yet.  But it’ll get there.  Until it does, you may want a few items to keep your neck feeling warm and cozy, yet ‘seasonally’ appropriate.  Woven in a soft, refined blend of silk and wool, it will keep you on trend both in its vibrant color palette and striking ikat motif.  It’s a great way to wear one of this season’s favorite hues without screaming n-e-o-n.  (www.coach.com)

In a SynchIn a Synch – It’s been said that the devil is in the details.  Even if your pant or skirt is a perfect  fit, belt loops require that you wear a belt.  Instead of the dark neutral belts most of us sport all winter long, why not lighten up for spring with this gorgeous linen hue.  The bright patent leather shines up any ensemble and adds a subtle ladylike touch.  (www.jcrew.com)

Right in StepRight in Step – Who says you need to sacrifice comfort for style?  With their modern interpretation of a classic oxford, these shoes are so on trend.  They feature soft nubuck and cushioning on the inner soles which make them a pleasure to wear for long periods of time.  Talk about the best of both worlds…Count me in!  (www.zappos.com)
